Embryo Donation

What is Embryo Donation?

Embryo donation is an IVF procedure applied to men or women against infertility issues. In the embryo donation procedure, the eggs and sperms collected from donors are fertilized under laboratory conditions and then transferred to the mother’s uterus.

Who are eligible for Embryo Donation?

• The couples failing to generate eggs or sperms
• The couples failing to give birth to a health child due to genetic diseases (if pregnancy is not achieved regardless of genetic analysis)
• The couples failing to develop quality embryos by eggs or sperms and to have pregnancy regardless of regular intercourses
• The couples failing in repetitive IVF procedures

How is Embryo Donation implemented?

The general health condition of prospective mother is critical for gynecology analysis prior to embryo donation. Considering the blood flow values and hormone levels, medicated uterus X-ray (hysterosalpingography-HSG) would be applied when necessary.

In order to prepare the uterus of prospective mother for embryo transfer, intrauterine developing/thickening medication therapy shall be initiated in the second or third day of menstrual period. If the prospective mother fails to have menstrual periods, then medication therapy shall start in a specific date determined in accordance with the treatment schedule and it shall continue for 2 weeks approximately. Subsequently, the uterus shall be analyzed by ultrasound procedure. The embryo fertilized under laboratory conditions are then transferred to the uterus of prospective mother.

HbsAg, Anti-HBC total, Anti-HCV, HIV and VDRL tests

FSH, LH, Testosterone and TESE Report

After the tests and examinations are assessed by our doctors, a special treatment program is scheduled for you. The treatment process and medication dosage are determined by our doctors in accordance with ultrasound results.

If you have menstrual periods, medication therapy starts for uterus preparation during the second or third day of menstrual period after all examinations and tests are completed. You may start your treatment in any intended time if you experience menopause. The egg and sperm donors are determined in accordance with the physical properties of recipient party and proper treatment is scheduled. If you are not in menopause period, then the synchronization between donor and recipient parties is critical. The date of treatment is determined by this synchronization.

The uterus is checked and medication therapy is detailed prior to treatment. The preparation phase varies from 12 to 14 days for the donor. As the donor eggs are prepared, the date of egg sampling is determined and microinjection procedure is initiated with certified sperms to be selected in the same day. Subsequently, the transfer procedure is scheduled in accordance with the development status of embryos. For the transfer procedure, you need to visit Bahçeci Cyprus IVF Center. The embryos shall be ready for transfer by the fifth day.

By the transfer date, your appointment is scheduled in our centers. Anesthesia is not applied for transfer procedure. The medications required to be used following transfer procedure shall be explained in detail. After 12 days following the transfer, you may have blood pregnancy test (BHCG).

How the donors are selected exclusively for you?

We consider donor selection as the most important phase in terms of patient sensitivity. Therefore, we work with the approach of “healthy donors”, egg quantity and egg quality during the selection phase.

Egg donors are young and fertile individuals examined for infectious diseases (HBS Ag, Anti-HBc, Anti-HCV, Anti-HIV1, Anti-HIV2, VDRL-RPR, HTLV-I/II Antibody, Cytomegalovirus, Syphilis and Chlamydia), genetic diseases (Karyotype analysis, sickle cell, cystic fibrosis and thalassemia scanning), blood groups and Rh states.

Furthermore, sociocultural characteristics, occupation, appearance and private life of the donors are assessed under strict regulations.

The physical properties of donors such as skin color, eye color, hair color and physical form are determined in similar to the recipient during donor selection phase.

As required by applicable legislation in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, only the sperm samples collected from global licensed sperm banks are used.
